If you walk into any new construction you will find a fireplace. Whether it’s in the family room or elsewhere in the house like the primary bedroom or formal living room. Fireplaces are everywhere. If you’re adding to your house or doing a major reno and wondering if you should install a fireplace, go for it.
If you do, be sure to install a gas or electric fireplace. They are easier to use than a wood burning fireplace. Most people now-a-days do not know how to properly use and care for a wood burning fireplace, and if you don’t know how to use it, you won’t use it.
If you’re looking for another heat source, consider buying a pellet stove. They are very efficient and produce a ton of heat. If you live in a ranch, or have an open floor plan, a pellet stove can provide the majority of heat for your home. Just be sure to have enough pellets available. Order a bulk delivery way in advance to avoid long wait times during the season.
